Nicolas Morizet, PhD

I am a PhD-Engineer with 10+ years experience in signal processing, computer vision, machine learning and pattern recognition; specialized in the use of wavelets for various applications such as multimodal biometrics, acoustic emission / ultrasounds for non-destructive testing (NDT) and time series analysis.

I am also a proficient programmer in scientific computing (Matlab, C, C++, Qt, Python, R, Scikit-learn, Pandas, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras) and web development. Besides, I developed an expertise in designing human-computer interfaces (HCI) for engineering software.

I currently am Lead Data Scientist at Advestis.

In 2016, I held a Senior Data Scientist | Signal Processing Expert position at Quinten.

In 2015, I was a software development engineer at Eurosonic.

From 2012 to 2014, I occupied a research engineer position at the MATEIS Laboratory, INSA de Lyon, France. I was part of the FUI ‘IREINE’ project (Innovation for the REliability of INdustrial Equipments), working on corrosion monitoring using signal processing and pattern classification techniques. My work led to a copyrighted software called RF-CAM, which helps in classifying acoustic emission signals using Random Forests algorithm.

I obtained my Ph.D. in 2009 under Pr. Amara Amara, in multimodal biometrics at Télécom ParisTech. I also hold an engineering degree in computer science from Institut Supérieur d’Électronique de Paris (ISEP), France.

I am the recipient of the SEE Jean-Marie Berges Award 2007 for my paper “Initiation aux ondelettes“.
